About Hippo
Global Hippo North Macedonia Association is a non-profit organisation founded in 2012 with the purpose of promoting the importance of English language knowledge and bringing together children from different countries.
Hippo "English Without Borders" Contest is an international contest that promotes the English language, challenges students around the globe to compete in their English language knowledge, and strengthens cooperation among teachers. The Contest encourages the development of a shared sense of identity and integration, serving as a role model for young people living together as one global community.
The main goal of the association is to create and nurture friendly relations, international understanding, and a spirit of sporting competitiveness among young people interested in the English language from all around the world.
Aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), internationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated English language qualifications are used throughout the Contest. These qualifications are designed for candidates who are not native speakers of English and who wish to achieve a high-quality, globally recognised certification in English.
In addition to organising the Contest, the Global Hippo North Macedonia Association is also an association for English language teachers, offering free membership to all educators from North Macedonia. We aim to support English teachers through collaboration, shared resources, professional development opportunities, and a growing international network dedicated to excellence in English language education.
Our community welcomes teachers from all backgrounds, new and experienced alike, who share a passion for teaching English and inspiring young learners worldwide.
